The Bulwark of
S. Sebastiano

The ancient vestiges of the Bulwark of S. Sebastiano are found in the center of the city, at the intersection between Via Casa Mannini and Via Nuova Chiunzi. Unfortunately, through the centuries, most of the monuments pertaining to the ancient fortifications which surrounded Maiori, have been lost. The Bulwark of S. Sebastiano For some, with the exception of the coastal towers, which still overlook the sea, and the Castle of S. Niccolò de Thoro Plano, , only the names of the places where they once stood remain, while for others, only a vestige remains.

Unfortunately, in the case of the Bulwark of S. Sebastiano, only a few stretches of the long wall, that served to defend the city, remain with embattlements and embrasures.

The ancient circular tower of theBulwark of S. Sebastiano - the "Torretta Mandina" - is located at cross-roads; another - the "Torretta di Milo - is found at the end of Via de Iusola.
